Why using it?

Use social sculpture to work with the youth to scale-up their message with the surrounding community transforming ordinary thoughts into something special.

What is it?

Social sculpture is an artistic method to explore ideas and communicate with the surrounding community through the creation of posters.

Steps

• The participants draw posters with a message they want to share with their communities.


• Some other participants are selected to document their message with visual recordings and video probes.


• Once the posters are ready ask the participants to present and explain their work.


• All the participants form a group to set up the posters in close-by community locations that they select.

Tips for the facilitator:

Help them in avoiding stereotypes.

Materials needed:

Paper, markers, tape, camera.

Time:

1/2 days.
